HONOLULU, HI - Men's volleyball kicked off their 2020 season on Thursday night at the Raising Cane's Rainbow Warrior Classic. Emmanuel fell to number 1 ranked University of Hawaii, 3-0.
Hawaii took control early in the game, eventually claiming the first set, 25-10.
In the second set, the Lions got off to a strong start, leading 4-0 early on. The Rainbow Warriors fought their way back and eventually claimed the lead, 8-7. Emmanuel was unable to keep pace the rest of the set, but managed to put up 15 points in the 25-15 loss.
The third set followed a similar pattern as Emmanuel held the lead early on. The Lions were within two points midway through the set, trailing 15-13. However, the Rainbow Warriors got hot and eventually claimed the victory, 25-15.
The Lions were led by senior
Don Thompson, who recorded 9 kills in 24 attempts. Senior
Aleksa Lakic followed with 7 kills in 16 attempts.
Next up, men's volleyball will take on Grand Canyon University on Friday, January 10, at 4:00pm Hawaii Time (9:00pm EST).
