Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga - The men's volleyball team took on the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters on Saturday afternoon. LMU topped Emmanuel in four sets, 3-1, moving the Lion's record to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in conference.
The first set was an evenly matched exchange as the Lions and Railsplitters hit .312 and .314, respectively. Senior
Aleksa Lakic got off to a hot start, recording 6 kills in the first set. However, the Railsplitters took control late in the set, pulling away to win it by 6 points, 25-19
LMU pulled away in the middle of the second set, gaining a 6 point led, 17-11. The Lions scored 3 consecutive points to come within reach, but a sideout for the Railsplitters killed Emmanuel's momentum. LMU went on to take the set, 25-18.
The Lions controlled the beginning of the third set, taking a 4 point lead, 11-7. A timeout from LMU did little to slow Emmanuel's momentum as they extended their lead to 5 points, 18-13. The Lions maintained the 5 point advantage for the remainder of the set, taking it 25-20.
LMU regained control in the fourth set, pulling away late to take a 5 point lead, 23-18. The Lions rallied, following a sideout with a kill from Lakic to pull within 3 points. Despite the Lions scoring two more points, two kills for LMU gave them the set, 25-22, and closed out the game, 3-1.
The Lions were led by
Aleksa Lakic, who ended the game with 21 kills, hitting .419. Lakic also recorded two service aces and 5 digs. Senior
Don Thompson followed with 14 kills and 9 digs.
