Men's Tennis Loses Battle With SWU in Conference Opener

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - Emmanuel men's tennis dropped their first conference match of the season to Southern Wesleyan University on Tuesday afternoon. After a hard fought battle, the Warriors came out on top 4-3.

Despite Wilfredo Lara and Juan Camilo Burgos Torres earning a 6-4 victory over their doubles opponent, SWU topped EC in the other two matchups, gaining an early 1-0 lead.

The Lions entered singles play with Lucas Hideo Sasaki in the #4 spot claiming a quick 6-1, 6-1 win. #6 Jorge Canadas followed next with a 7-5, 6-2 win over his opponent, boosting EC to a 2-1 lead. 

In the #2 spot, Juan Carlos Romero battled through three sets, but came up short against his opponent 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. SWU would move ahead with another victory at the #1 spot. Wilfredo Lara put the Lions back in contention with a 6-3, 6-3 win, putting the match in the hands of Hassan Hossam Badran at the #5 spot. In the end, the Warriors came out on top with Badran falling 6-3, 6-3. The Warriors took the victory, 4-3.

Next up, the Lions will take on Augusta University on Friday, March 6th at 2pm.
