Lions Sweep Reinhardt

WALESKA, Ga - The men's volleyball team took on the Reinhardt University Eagles on Thursday night. The Lions shut out the Eagles, 3-0, moving their record to 5-10. 
 
The Lions got off to a hot start, leading 8-3 early in the first set. The Lions extended their lead to as much as 8 points, but the Eagles responded and pulled back within one, 18-17. However, the Lions regained their footing and closed out the set, 25-21. 
 
Reinhardt took control at the beginning of the second set, building a four point lead, 10-6. In the middle of the set the Lions scored five unanswered points to reclaim the lead, 15-13. The Eagles stayed within two points but were unable to get back on top, resulting in Emmanuel taking the set, 25-23. 
 
The teams exchanged points early in the third set. By the middle of the set, the Eagles took a three point lead, 15-12. The Lions responded with a 13-3 run, finishing off strong to win the set, 25-18. 
 
Emmanuel recorded 36 kills, hitting .143. Reinhardt finished with 21 killings and a hitting percentage of .048. 
 
The Lions were led by senior Alex Zayas, who recorded 10 kills. Freshman Philipp Lauter followed with 6 kills. Junior Mateus Bade logged 8 digs and 2 service aces. 
 
Next up, men's volleyball will face Lincoln Memorial University on Tuesday, March 10th.
