Women's Basketball Concludes Season With Loss to Barton in Conference Carolinas Semifinals

SPARTANBURG, SC - The #3 Emmanuel College women's basketball team concluded their 2019-2020 season with a loss to the #2 Barton Bulldogs in the semifinal round of the 2020 Conference Carolinas playoffs. The Bulldogs defeated the Lions, 76-51 and will move on to the championship on Sunday. 
 
The first five minutes of the game were evenly matched, but the Bulldogs set the pace late in the first quarter, leading 16-10 at the 2:12 mark. The Lions sank a couple baskets late in the quarter, but the Bulldogs still led after 10 minutes, 18-14. 
 
The Lions bounced back in the beginning of the second quarter, going on a 6-1 run to take the lead, 20-19. The lead went back and forth over the next few minutes. However, in the last 2 minutes of the half the Bulldogs went on an 11-4 run, giving them a 7 point lead at halftime, 38-31. 
 
The Bulldogs carried their momentum into the third quarter, scoring 15 straight points as the Lions struggled to respond. By the end of the third quarter the Bulldogs led, 60-35. 
 
The Lions were unable to put together a comeback attempt in the final quarter, resulting in a victory for the Bulldogs, 76-51. 
 
Junior Breanna Locke led the Lions with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Senior Ajah Taylor followed with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomore Jazmin Allen also had 8 points.
