WILSON, NC - Women's volleyball faced Barton College on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs topped the Lions in four sets, 3-1. The loss moves Emmanuel's record to 10-11 (7-3 in CC). 

The Lions propelled themselves to an early lead in the first set, 7-3. The Bulldogs got back within a point by the middle of the set, 14-13. However, a pair of service aces from senior Kaitlyn Henderson combined with three kills for senior Aleksandra Hamuda, giving Emmanuel a five point lead. The Lions went on to take the set, 25-17. 

The Lions continued their momentum into the second set, scoring the first three points. But it was short lived as the Bulldogs scored five straight to take the lead. The set proceeded to go back and forth until Barton led by one, 18-17. However, the Bulldogs scored 7 in a row to win the set, 25-17. 

The Lions led the third set in the early going, 9-6. But the momentum once again went to the Bulldogs as they scored five in a row to gain the advantage. The Lions fought their way through the set, but were never able get on top as the Bulldogs took it, 25-22. 

Barton scored the first four points of set four and never looked back. Emmanuel struggled to find their footing as the Bulldogs went on to win the set by double digits, 25-14. 

Aleksandra Hamuda led the way for the Lions, recording a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs, along with a block and an assist. Alaina Emminger followed with 11 kills, 5 digs, 3 blocks, and an ace. 

Next up, league play continues on Wednesday as women's volleyball faces Converse University. First serve is set for 7:00pm.
