DUE WEST, SC - Women's volleyball faced the Erskine Flying Fleet on Tuesday night. The Lions fell to the Fleet, 3-0, moving their record to 11-12 (8-4 in CC).
The first set was all Erskine early on as they cruised to a 6-0 lead. The Lions could do little to slow the Fleet's momentum as they continued to control the pace. Eventually Erskine took the set comfortably, 25-16.Â
The second set saw the Lions take their first lead of the evening, 2-1. The set proceeded to go back and forth with neither team able to gain an advantage. However, with the score tied at 18, the Fleet went on a 7-2 run, giving them the set, 25-20.Â
Emmanuel took the early lead in the third set, 7-4. The set went back and forth, but the Lions maintained a slim lead throughout the majority of the set. Then, with the score tied at 23, sophomore Alaina Emminger recorded a kill to get Emmanuel to set point. But, just when it looked like the Lions were going to extend the match, Erskine once again took control, taking the set 27-25, and the match, 3-0.Â
Alaina Emminger led the way for the Lions with 10 kills and 3 digs. Taylor Roberts followed, finishing with 9 kills and an ace.
