400th Career Victory for Coach Rosene Comes Against Patriots

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The men's basketball team played their home opener on Saturday evening as they began conference play against Francis Marion. The Lions claimed a 77-64 win over the Patriots on a special night that marked the 400th career win for head coach TJ Rosene. Additionally, Emmanuel Athletics celebrated a Hall of Fame induction at halftime as they gave legendary head coach Jim Ganey the honor.

The Lions jumped out to an 8-4 lead early, but the Patriots knocked down eight straight to take the advantage. Francis Marion continued the momentum, eventually leading by as much as eight, 29-21. But a late push by Emmanuel tied the score at 32 before a free throw for the Patriots gave them a one point lead after 20 minutes, 33-32.

The first part of the second half saw the score remain tight as neither team could pull away. With Emmanuel leading 52-51, an unanswered 10 points finally gave them the boost they'd been looking for. The Lions held the Patriots at bay for the remainder of regulation, eventually winning by 13 points, 77-64.

Sophomore KJ Jones II led the way for the Lions, finishing with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to make a statement in the first conference game. Senior Brandon Simpson followed with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Senior Kyler Ingram put on a show on defense, recording 5 blocks, 2 steals, and 7 rebounds.

Next up, men's basketball will host UNC Pembroke in another conference matchup on Tuesday, November 23 at 7:00pm.
