FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The men's basketball team hosted the North Greenville Crusaders on Wednesday afternoon. After a close first half, the Lions took over in the second to win comfortably, 89-73. The victory keeps Emmanuel perfect in Conference play (7-0), while moving them to 8-2 overall.
The first half was back and forth the whole way, with neither team doing enough to pull away. With nine lead changes in the first half alone, it appeared to be anyone's ball game. After 20 minutes of play the Lions led by two points, 39-37.
The Lions took control early in the second half and never looked back as they didn't trail again for the remainder of the game. Emmanuel put up 56 points in the second half alone, 16 of them off turnovers. The Crusaders were unable to muster a response as the Lions went on to win by 16 points, 89-73.
Senior Brandon Simpson and sophomore KJ Jones II put up 21 points each. Jones added 10 rebounds and 6 assists, while Simpson recorded 5 boards, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
Next up, men's basketball will head to pickle town to face Mount Olive on Saturday, December 18 at 4:00pm.
