WILSON, NC - The men's basketball team played against the Barton College Bulldogs on Friday night. The Lions defeated the Bulldogs by 15 points, 70-55, moving Emmanuel's record to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. 

Barton led 8-7 early on, but it was the last time they would see the lead as the Lions slowly took over the game. Leading 22-20, the Lions put up a 10-3 run, including a six minute stretch when they didn't allow the Bulldogs to score from the field. The dominate defense gave them a 9 point lead after 20 minutes, 32-23. 

The second half was closely fought, but the Lions were able to hold the Bulldogs at bay with momentum-killing three pointers and solid free throw shooting. The Bulldogs were still within ten points at the four minute mark, 61-51, but the fifth three pointer of the night for senior Michael Wright continued to hold off the Bulldogs as the Lions went on to win by 15 points, 70-55. 

Sophomore KJ Jones II led the way for the Lions with 21 points and 10 rebounds, recording a double-double. Senior Michael Wright followed with 16 points, going 5-9 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Jayvion Rucker finished with 10 boards. 

Next up, men's basketball will face Chowan University on Saturday, December 4 at 4:00pm.
