Central, SC - The Emmanuel College Lions earned a conference Win today against the Warriors in an away contest.
Emmanuel was able to get a good win on doubles #2 today with Sasaki / Grosset in a solid performance with a 6-2 win. The lone win was not enough, and the warriors ended up snagging the doubles point.
With a 1-0 deficient on the overall scoreboard, Emmanuel had to climb a higher mountain, but a lot of determination and positive energy, slowly, but steady, everything got in favor for the visitors. First, the senior from Madrid, Spain,
Jorge Canadas, was flawless on the court today and quickly dispatched his foe with a perfect 6-0 6-0 win. WIlfredo Lara, the sophomore from Peru, had to work extra hard today, but for the third time this season, Lara got a 3-set win, 6-2 3-6 6-1. Another senior, Lucas Sasaki, showed an impressive ability to change directions and dictated the point throughout the match today, earning a pair of breaks to put the Lions a point away from the clinch with a 7-5 6-2 victory. Southern Wesleyan got close on the board with a win on court #1, but
Juan Carlos Romero, came back from a set deficit and a break down to clinch the victory for Emmanuel with a 2-6 6-4 6-0 win. Lastly, the Freshman from Chennai, India,
Manav Sreekumar had to go the distance to remain undefeated this season in league play with a 3-set win, 6-4 3-6 6-2.
This was the second win for the Lions Tennis team in conference play this season. Emmanuel will host the next match when they face the North Greenville University in another conference event.
