WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Women's volleyball continued tournament play in the sunshine state with a match against the 18th ranked team in the country, Hillsdale College. The Chargers beat the Lions 3-0, moving Emmanuel's record to 1-4.
The Lions led 4-2 early in the first set. However, with the score tied at 6 the Chargers scored five consecutive points, giving them the lead, 11-6. Emmanuel got back within two points, 13-11, but another dominate run from Hillsdale led to them scoring 10 straight points. The Lions were unable to claw their way back in the set as the Chargers took it, 25-17.
The second set saw the Chargers continue with their momentum as they built a large advantage early on, 13-6. The Lions were unable to gain momentum of their own as they lost the set, 25-13.
The third set was more of the same as the Chargers continued to control the momentum and once again built an early lead. Eventually Hillsdale took the set, 25-10.
Aleksandra Hamuda and Gabi Reagan lead the way for the Lions with 4 kills a piece. However, 10 different Lions recorded points as many substitutions were made in the second and third sets.
Next up, women's volleyball will continue with day 2 of the Bash at the Beach with a match against American International University at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 9.
