Lions Drop Mid-Week Matchup to Wolves

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel baseball team faced the Newberry Wolves on Wednesday, falling 15-4. This drops Emmanuel's record to 5-6 overall.
 
Emmanuel knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Emmanuel scored one run when Jacob Reeves doubled.
After Newberry College scored one run in the top of the sixth, Emmanuel answered with one of their own. Newberry College scored when Jacob Lebron singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.  Emmanuel then answered when Vinny Antinori hit a solo homer.

Newberry College pulled away for good with two runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Henry Gibson grounded out, scoring one run and Hunter French singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Emmanuel notched three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to doubles by Dustin Frost, Dobbs Bowden, and Reeves.
Newberry College scored four runs in the ninth inning. Newberry College (NC)'s big inning was driven by a single by Gabriel Santiago, a groundout by Donovan Ford, a fielder's choice by Zane Tarrance, and an error on a ball put in play by Lebron.

Rylan Brown pitched Newberry College to victory. The pitcher went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out three and walking zero.  Kyle Baker, Bryce Peterson, and Tyler Tuck all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Braden Henle took the loss for Emmanuel. The pitcher went one inning, allowing two runs on two hits and walking one.

Kendrick Zimmer started the game for Emmanuel. The righty surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings.

Emmanuel socked one home run on the day. Antinori had a homer in the sixth inning.

Reeves led Emmanuel with two hits in three at bats.

Newberry College tallied 14 hits in the game.  Braylin Marine, French, Tarrance, and Lebron each managed multiple hits for the Wolves.  Marine went 3-for-6 at the plate to lead Newberry in hits. Newberry was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Rhett Jolly made the most plays with 12.

Next up, Emmanuel Baseball will face King University for a double header on Saturday.
