Women's Lacrosse Plays First Game in 2 Years, Defeats Montreat 14-7

Black Mountain, North Carolina- The Emmanuel College Women's Lacrosse team dominated their season opener against the Montreat College Cavaliers with a winning score of 14-7. This marked the first time since the pandemic that Emmanuel women's lacrosse has been able to compete and moves their record to 1-0.
 
First period
The Lions came in strong with 2 goals from Justine Dorelas. The Cavaliers came back scoring a goal, putting the score at 2-1. The Cavaliers kept fighting through the first period, scoring one more goal, before the first period ended, leaving the score tied 2-2. 
 
Second Period 
The Lions came back into the second period aggressive and ready to go, with Justine Dorelas and Anna Gill scoring 2 goals each in this period. The Cavaliers came back to score one goal after the Lions' back to back goals. Emmanuel's very own Mickaela Davis finished out the second period for the Lions, scoring a goal, leaving the score at 7-3. 
 
Third Period
Within 26 seconds into the third period, Anna Gill scored her third goal of the game for the Lions. The Lions were not going to back down as Baile Garland scored another goal for the Lions. The Cavaliers tried to come back, scoring one goal before Mickaela Davis scored again for the Lions. The Cavaliers made a final shot, ending the period at 10-5. 
 
Fourth Period 
Coming in hot, Justine Dorelas scored once again for the Lions. The Cavaliers tried to fight back by scoring another goal, putting the score at 11-6. The Lions were not going to back down though as Baile Garland scored another goal for the Lions shortly after. Justine Dorelas came back to score her last goal of the game, putting her at 6 goals in total for their season opener. The Cavaliers scored their final goal of the game, only to be scored on again by Emmanuel's Anna Gill, ending the game with a score of 14-7. 
 
 
The Lion's will be traveling to Asheville, NC to take on Mars Hill University on Saturday, February 19th @ 4:00 p.m.
