Railsplitters Top Lions in Three

HARROGATE, TN - The Emmanuel College Men's Volleyball team traveled to Harrogate, Tennessee, to compete against Lincoln Memorial University. The Lions lost 0-3 in straight sets – 16-25, 14-25, 14-25. With this loss, the Lions fall to 2-1 for the season. 
 
Lincoln Memorial – coming off five straight wins, including a victory over #11 Loyola Chicago –  held the Lions to an overall -0.029 hitting percentage, compared to an impressive 0.363 percentage from the Railsplitters. 
 
Emmanuel ended the night with a total of 22 team kills, led by Eli Zdonek with 6, Gustavo Cavalcanti with 5, and Carlos Guerrero with 4. The team recorded 4 aces, led by Daniel Beacham with 3 and Gustavo Cavalcanti with 1. Up front, the team managed to finish the night with two blocks, both coming from Carlos Guerrero. The team recorded 22 assists, led by Henrik Westhoff with 19. The back line recorded a total of 15 digs, led by Eli Zdonek with 4, Nicklas Eichenberger with 3, and Jayden Young with 2. 
 
Despite the strong effort, the men could not overcome LMU. They hope to bounce back next week as they compete in a home game against Limestone University on February 8 (Tuesday) at 7:00 PM.
