FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The men's volleyball team hosted #4 Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday afternoon. The Railsplitters swept the Lions, moving Emmanuel's record to 9-10 on the season.
Set one:
The Railsplitters hit .435 in the opener. The Lions matched them in total kills with 12, but 6 blocks for LMU were costly for the Emmanuel offense. The Railsplitters eventually took the set, 25-15.
Set two:
LMU continued to control the pace in the second set. Leading 14-12, the Railsplitters pieced together a 7-1 run, putting the set out of Emmanuel's reach. LMU went on to take it, 25-16.
Set three:
The score was tied at 11 before LMU went on a 4-0 run. However, the Lions responded with three points of their own to keep the set close. The Railsplitters slowly began to distance themselves once more, building a six point lead and reaching set and match point, 24-18. But the Lions didn't allow the game to end without a fight. After scoring five straight, including a pair of kills from sophomore Carlos Guerrero, freshman Viktor Berg recorded an ace that tied things up at 24. Despite the great comeback effort, the Railsplitters proceeded to finished off the set, 26-24, and the match, 3-0.
Carlos Guerrero finished with 11 kills, 8 digs and an ace, while sophomore Eli Zdonek followed with 6 kills. Freshman Daniel Beachum hit .500 with 5 kills.
Next up, men's volleyball will host King University on Friday, March 25 at 7:00pm.
