FRANKIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Soccer team hosted Lees-McRae for a Senior Night matchup in Conference Carolinas play. There was some early excitement, with each team scoring quickly in the first, but that would be it, and this one ended tied 1-1. With the draw, the Lions finish the season 7-5-3 overall, 6-3-3 in conference action.
Honored today were seniors,
Rafael Calderon (Talca, Chile), Josh Burton (Bay Minette, AL) and
Chris Klooster (Siegerswoude, Netherlands).
Sophomore,
Matt Fitzer started things off early with a goal for the Lions, 4:25 into the game, assisted by freshman,
Iker Martinez, to make the score 1-0.
The Bobcats responded with a goal of their own in the 20
th minute of play.
At the half, the score was knotted at 1, with Lees-McRae leading with 4 shots on goal to Emmanuel's 2.
The second half was a defensive battle, with neither team breaking through to score another goal. Both teams, however had plenty of opportunity, with Emmanuel taking 5 shots on goal to the Bobcat's 2.
This one ended in a draw, 1-1.
