YOUNG HARRIS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Basketball team took to the court today against Georgia College as a part of the PBC/CC Challenge hosted by Young Harris College. The Lions got off to a quick start against the Bobcats and didn't let up, winning the matchup, 78-68. With the win, the Lions now stand at 2-0 in the season and the Bobcats fell to 0-2.
In the first quarter, the Lions would score the first five points, and extended the lead to 10 (16-6) with 3:43 to play in the first. The Lions shot 35.29% in the first, 6-17 from the field.
The Bobcats fought back to bring the game within two (23-21), with 6:56 to play in the half, but that would be the closest they would get, as the Lions closed out the half with a 16-7 run, to take a 37-28 lead at the half. Emmanuel was 7-17 from the field (41.18%) in the second quarter.
Emmanuel broke it open in the first few minutes of the third going on a 10-0 run, to take a 20-point lead (53-32) with 5:22 left in the quarter. The Lions shot 53.85% from the field (7-13).
In the final quarter of play, the Bobcats outscored the Lions, scoring 29 points but it wasn't enough, and the Lions closed out the game shooting 58.33% from the field, winning the game 78-68 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Tyasia Freeman led the way for Emmanuel, shooting 10-16 from the field, with a double-double (24 points | 14 rebounds). Senior,
Sydney Wyatt (19), junior,
Abby Crawford (15) and freshman,
Maddie Futch (13) also scored double figures on the afternoon.
Next up, the Lions will face USC Aiken at home on Wednesday at 5:30PM.
