ABERDEEN, SD – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Aberdeen, SD to take on the Wolves of Northern State University. This was an intense match-up including 5 tied scores and 8 lead changes. After four quarters of play, the Lions defeated the Wolves 65-53. This win brings the Lions' overall record to 2-1.
In the first half, the Lions shot an impressive 12-21 from the field (57.14%), were 2-4 from beyond the arc (50.00%) and 7-7 at the charity stripe. At the half, the Lions led 33-30.
In the second half, the Lions continued their offensive run, shooting 10-22 (45.45%) from the field and 4-8 (50.00%) from beyond the arc. Emmanuel went 8-9 (88.89%) at the free throw line, bringing the game total to 15-16 (93.8%).
The Lions had 26 points in the paint, 16 off turnovers and 8 bench points.
Senior,
KJ Jones II led the Lions in scoring with 28 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Junior,
Chris Dees contributed 15 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals. Junior,
Elisee Ehuie contributed 8 rebounds of his own on the night.
Next up, the Lions will take on preseason ranked #1, Northwest Missouri State University in Aberdeen, SD on Saturday, November 18 at 5PM.
