NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team continued their run in the Conference Carolinas Tournament tonight with a match-up against #2 seeded, North Greenville University. This was an evenly matched game, against one of the best offensive teams in conference, but the Lions defense stepped up when needed to prevail against the Crusaders, 3-1! With the win, the Lions improve to 21-10 overall, 14-3 in conference play.
The Lions opened things up strong in the first set with 14 kills and 4 blocks to take a 25-20 win.
The Crusaders responded in the second, with an ace and four blocks of their own to take a 25-17 win.
In the third, the Lions rebounded to take the set, 25-19, highlighted by 12 kills, 5 aces, and 3 blocks.
Emmanuel finished things off in the fourth with 14 kills, 6 blocks and 4 aces, to take the set 25-20, and the game 3-1!
Overall, the Lions had 50 kills, 9 aces, 11 blocks, and 49 digs.
Senior,
Emily Hanson led the way with 12 kills on the night. Senior,
Alaina Emminger contributed 11 of her own.
Freshman,
Cailin Pritchard had 4.5 of Emmanuel's 11 blocks, with freshman,
Ella Johns and Emminger adding 2 a piece.
Sophomore,
Ellie Jackson was hot from the service line with 4 aces and senior,
Gabrielle McGlamery added to her career assist total with 45 on the night.
Next up, the Lions will compete for the Conference Carolinas Championship crown against #1 seeded UNC Pembroke at 3PM in a rematch of last year's championship. GO LIONS!
