WINGATE, NC – The #6 seeded, Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team squared off against a familiar foe, #3 seed, Lander University in round one of the NCAA DII Women's Volleyball Championship. The matchup took place inside Cuddy Arena on the campus of Wingate University. Emmanuel faced Lander in the regular season, defeating the Bearcats in five sets, 3-2. But today, Lander took care of the Lions in four evenly matched sets, 4-1. With the loss, the Lions fell to 22-11 on the season.
 
Lander got off to an early 7-1 lead in the first set and never trailed. The Bearcats took set one, 25-16. 
 
Emmanuel rallied in set two, going on an 11-5 run late to take the set, 25-19. The third set saw several rallies and 10 lead changes, but the Bearcats would make more plays to take the set, 25-18. 
 
In the fourth set, both teams played well, with 15 kills each. There were several ties early, but after Lander broke an 11-11 tie they would lead the rest of the way. Emmanuel rallied several times to get within one, but Lander ultimately won the set, 25-22 to take the game, 3-1. 
 
Senior, Alaina Emminger led the way for Emmanuel with 12 kills, with junior, Jocelyn Martin contributing 11, and freshman, Cailin Pritchard adding 9 of her own.
 
The Lions had 12 blocks in the game, with senior Emily Hanson (5), Emminger (4) and Pritchard (3) leading the way. 
 
Senior, Gabrielle McGlammery added 35 assists and 15 digs on the night.
