Box Score AUGUSTA, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Augusta to take on the #7 regionally ranked, Augusta University Jaguars in non-conference action. From the start, the game was evenly matched with 11 ties and 15 lead changes. In the end, the Jaguars made shots when it mattered, and won in a close one 78-74. With the loss, the Lions fell to 9-4 on the season.
The game started off as a defensive battle, with neither team scoring a point in the first minute of play. The half saw 7 ties and 6 lead changes. The Lions were 14-28 from the field (50%) and 5-12 from beyond the arc. Emmanuel's largest lead of the half came with 11:06 to play, when they led by 7, 20-13. The Lions led at the half, 38-36.
In the second half, the Lions were 10-24 from the field (41.7%) and shot 33% from three. The Lions would lead for 11:07 of the second half, but the Jaguars would take the lead with 4:43 to play in the contest and would lead the rest of the way. Augusta would take the win in nail-biting fashion, 78-74.
Senior,
KJ Jones II would lead the way for the Lions with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals. Junior,
Chris Dees contributed 19 points and 1 steal on the night, with junior,
Kendall Latney adding 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal to the total.
