Lions clinch double header win over King

Franklin Springs, GA - The Lions baseball team hosted King University for a Conference Carolinas matchup with the Tornado this afternoon. 

Game 1 recap: Emmanuel - 3, King - 0
  • Two Emmanuel College Lions Pitchers Rally Together To Shutout King University
  • Emmanuel College Lions defeated King University 3-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. E. Pooler got D. Hall to hit into a fielder's choice to finish off the game.
  • The pitching was strong on both sides. Emmanuel College Lions pitchers struck out nine, while King University pitchers sat down five.
  • Emmanuel College Lions got things moving in the first inning.  Emmanuel College Lionsscored one run when T. Collins doubled.
  • A single by P. Steele in the first inning was a positive for King University.
  • M. Dickey was the winning pitcher for Emmanuel College Lions. The pitcher went six innings, allowing zero runs on four hits and striking out seven.  Pooler threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Pooler recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Emmanuel College Lions.
  • G. Carlton took the loss for King University. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out five and walking one.
  • C. Minnis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Emmanuel College Lions in hits.
  • King University saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game.  C. Hyatt and G. Huffman each racked up multiple hits for King University. King University didn't commit a single error in the field. Hall had the most chances in the field with ten.
