Franklin Springs, GA - The Lions softball team hosted UVA Wise for a non conference matchup this afternoon.

Game 1 recap : Emmanuel - 13, UVA Wise - 5

• VARNER Delivers Four Hits To Emmanuel College Lions Varsity Victory Over UVA Wise
• ELLEE VARNER had the hot hand on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading Emmanuel College Lions to a 12-5 victory over UVA Wise.  VARNER singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.
• Emmanuel College Lions scored four runs in the fourth inning.  Emmanuel College Lions  big inning was driven by a single by LEXI JORDAN and a home run by JARYN GIBSON.
• Macy Kelley pitched Emmanuel College Lions  to victory. The pitcher went four and a third innings, allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking one.  KAITLYN PICKENS and MADISON EDWARDS entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
• McKenna Falwell took the loss for UVA Wise. The pitcher lasted three and a third innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out two.
• Emmanuel College Lions  tallied one home run on the day. GIBSON had a four bagger in the fourth inning.
• VARNER led Emmanuel College Lions  with four hits in four at bats.  Emmanuel College Lions  stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. GABBY BUFFINGTON led the way with two.
• UVA Wise collected 11 hits on the day.  Kara Long and Falwell all managed multiple hits for UVA Wise.

• Emmanuel College Lions  Takes Victory Against UVA Wise In Pitcher's Duel
• Both teams were strong in the circle Saturday, but Emmanuel College Lions  defeated UVA Wise 2-1. MADISON EDWARDS allowed just five hits to UVA Wise.
• EDWARDS got the win for Emmanuel College Lions . The righthander lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out ten and walking zero.
• Alivia Nolley took the loss for UVA Wise. The hurler went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out one.
• Emmanuel College Lions  tallied seven hits in the game.  KYNA CHENEY and ELLEE VARNER each had multiple hits for Emmanuel College Lions.  VARNER and CHENEYeach collected two hits to lead Emmanuel College Lions .  Emmanuel College Lions didn't commit a single error in the field. Kinsley Goolsby had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Lions will travel to Anderson University on February 26th. First pitch is set for 1:00pm
