Lions Fall to Railsplitters on the Road

HARROGATE, TN - The Emmanuel men's volleyball team faced Lincoln Memorial University on Friday night. The Lions fell to the Rail Splitters, who are currently ranked third in Division II, 0–3. This moves Emmanuel's record to 6-11 on the year.

The opening set was close early on, but with the score 7-6, LMU went on an 11-3 run that propelled them to an 18-10 lead. Another 7-3 run for the Railsplitters resulted in them taking the opening set, 25-13.

With the Lions leading 3-2 in the second set, the Railsplitters scored eight consecutive points, building a solid lead they would never relinquish. The Lions made a late push, but were only able to get to 13 before LMU captured the second set, 25-13.

Another explosive start for LMU gave them a 10-3 advantage in the third. Emmanuel traded points with the Railsplitters the rest of the way, but the hot start was too much to overcome. Eventually LMU would take the final set, 25-17.

Jayden Young led the Emmanuel offense, finishing with 8 kills. Christian Vega followed will 5 kills, hitting .300.

Next up, Emmanuel men's volleyball will finish up their Tennessee swing with a match at Tusculum University on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00pm.
