FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel women's lacrosse team began conference play in Saturday as they hosted NGU. Despite 5 goals from Justine Dorelas, the Lions fell by four points, 10-14. The Lions are now 1-4 on the year and 0-1 in league play.
1st period:
The Crusaders scored three goals in the first five minutes, but the Lions responded five straight to take a two goal advantage. Each team scored once more, giving Emmanuel a 6-4 lead after 15 minutes.
2nd period:
Emmanuel's only goal in the second came from Dorelas, while the Crusaders scored three times to tie the score at seven going into halftime.
3rd period:
Back and forth scoring ensued in the third, but ultimately the Crusaders put up three goals to Emmanuel's two, giving them a 10-9 lead after 45 minutes.
4th period:
NGU took over in the final period, scoring four times in a row and shutting the Lions down on defense. Emmanuel scored with under two minutes to play, but ultimately the Crusaders were able to come out on top by four, 14-10.
Justine Dorelas led the way with five goals, while Anna Gill had 2 goals and an assist.
Next up, women's lacrosse will play Anderson University on Tuesday, March 7 at 6:00pm.
