Emmanuel College Baseball Drops series To Barton College After Late Score

GAME 1

The Emmanuel College Lions lost the lead late in a 12-7 defeat to Barton College on Friday. Barton College was down 7-6 in the top of the eighth inning when C. Gonzalez singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Emmanuel collected ten hits and Barton had ten in the high-scoring affair.

In the second inning, the Emmanuel Lions got their offense started when J. Manibusan doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Emmanuel College evened things up at five in the bottom of the sixth inning. K. LaCross singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Emmanuel scored four runs in the sixth inning. Emmanuel College Lions's big bats in the inning were led by singles by Manibusan, LaCross, and C. Minnis.

B. Widerman was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out four and walking zero.

C. Brown took the loss for Emmanuel. The lefty surrendered five runs on six hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one.

M. Dickey started the game for Emmanuel. The righty allowed three hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three C. Patterson started the game for Barton College. The pitcher went five and a third innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and striking out four

The Emmanuel College Lions collected ten hits on the day. Minnis, R. Muniz, N. Dietsch, and Manibusan each racked up multiple hits for Emmanuel. Manibusan, Dietsch, Muniz, and Minnis each collected two hits to lead Emmanuel.

T. Halvorson led Barton College with three hits in four at bats. Barton College didn't commit a single error in the field. C. Waddell had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.

GAME 2

Emmanuel Baseball watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 14-3 loss to Barton College on Saturday. The Bulldogs scored on a double by R. Paniagua, a home run by C. Gonzalez, and a single by C. Waddell in the second inning.

The Emmanuel College Lions struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Barton College, giving up 14 runs.

Barton got things started in the second inning when Paniagua doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Emmanuel notched three runs in the third inning. T. Collins and J. Manibusan each drove in runs during the inning.

Barton scored five runs in the sixth inning. Barton College's big inning was driven by doubles by S. Laimo and Paniagua, a single by Waddell, and a groundout by R. Mclsaac.

T. Halvorson led the Barton College Bulldogs to victory on the hill. The pitcher allowed nine hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four. P. Groark threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

E. Pooler took the loss for Emmanuel College. Pooler went four innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking zero.

The Emmanuel College Lions tallied one home run on the day. Collins had a dinger in the third inning.

Emmanuel had nine hits in the game. C. Minnis and Manibusan each collected multiple hits for Emmanuel College Lions. Minnis led the Lions with three hits in four at bats.

Barton College tallied 16 hits in the game. Waddell, Paniagua, Laimo, J. Hoffman, and Gonzalez all managed multiple hits for the visitors.

GAME 3

Emmanuel claimed a 21-11 victory on Saturday, despite a big push by Barton College in the second inning. The big inning for Barton came thanks to singles by C. Waddell and J. Beebe, a home run by J. Hoffman, and an error on a ball put in play by T. Halvorson.

Emmanuel collected 18 hits and Barton College had 15 in the high-scoring affair.

Barton captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored two runs for the Bulldogs.

In the bottom of the third inning, Emmanuel College Lions tied things up at eight. Emmanuel scored one run when B. Eavenson singled.

After Barton scored one run in the top of the sixth, Emmanuel answered with one of their own. Barton scored when S. Laimo singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Emmanuel then answered when Eavenson singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Emmanuel College Lions took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored one run for Emmanuel College Lions.

Emmanuel put up five runs in the fifth inning. C. Minnis and N. Dietsch each drove in runs during the inning.

B. Barkley was the winning pitcher for the Lions. Barkley went two and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out one and walking one. A number of pitchers entered the game as relief, with M. Dodd, T. Mayfield, H. Parks, and D. Drakeford all securing outs and ultimately the victory.

A. Simone took the loss for Barton College. The righthander surrendered five runs on five hits over one and one-third innings, walking one.

S. Boggie started the game for Emmanuel College. The righthander went one inning, allowing six runs on three hits and striking out one

Emmanuel College Lions smacked two home runs on the day. Dietsch had a long ball in the fifth inning. T. Collins went deep in the first inning.

Emmanuel totaled 18 hits. Eavenson, Z. Bergstrom, Collins, K. LaCross, and R. Muniz each racked up multiple hits for Emmanuel College Lions. Eavenson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lions in hits.

Barton racked up 15 hits. C. Gonzalez, Hoffman, Beebe, and J. McNamee all managed multiple hits for the Bulldogs.
