Franklin Springs, GA - The Emmanuel College Softball team took both games in the series at home against the Erskine's Flying Fleet this afternoon.
GAME 1
GIBSON's Walk-Off Picture Perfect Ending In Emmanuel College Victory Over Erskine College. The Lions took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Erskine College. The game was tied at one with Emmanuel batting in the bottom of the seventh when JARYN GIBSON singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. MADISON EDWARDS struck out nine, while Payton Cox sat down one.
In the first inning, Erskine got their offense started when Peyton Rabon singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
Emmanuel knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fifth inning. Alyssa Adams hit a solo homer.
EDWARDS earned the win for Emmanuel College. EDWARDS allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Cox took the loss for Erskine College. The hurler lasted six and a third innings, allowing 11 hits and two runs while striking out one and walking one.
The Emmanuel College Lions hit one home run on the day. Adams had a dinger in the fifth inning.
The Lions saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. GIBSON and LEXI JORDAN all had multiple hits for EC. GIBSON went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Emmanuel in hits. The Lions were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Kinsley Goolsby made the most plays with nine.
GAME 2
Emmanuel jumped out to an early lead over Erskine College and took home an 11-3 victory on Saturday. The Lions scored on a double by MACKENSIE HOGAN and a double by JARYN GIBSON in the first inning.
Emmanuel notched three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to home runs by Alyssa Adams and GIBSON.
KAITLYN PICKENS got the win for EC. The righty allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one and walking zero.
Summer Nelsen took the loss for Erskine College. The pitcher lasted three and a third innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one.
Payton Cox started the game for Erskine. Cox went one and one-third innings, allowing six runs on four hits
Emmanuel smacked three home runs on the day. Adams had a homer in the fourth inning. GABBY BUFFINGTON had a long ball in the third inning. GIBSON had a dinger in the fourth inning.
The Lions Varsity collected 11 hits on the day. ELLEE VARNER, HOGAN, and GIBSON each managed multiple hits for Emmanuel. VARNER led Emmanuel College with three hits in four at bats. Emmanuel was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Isabel Harrison made the most plays with four.
Kyndall Chandler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Erskine Fleets in hits.
