Tigerville, SC - The Emmanuel Softball Team dropped a pair of close contests to North Greenville in the last game of the season.
Emmanuel lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat to North Greenville University on Friday. Emmanuel College Lions Varsity was down 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning when KYNA CHENEY tripled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
CHENEY collected four hits in defeat. CHENEY singled in the second, singled in the fourth, tripled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh.
North Greenville University got things started in the second inning. Maddie Stone's sac fly scored one run for the Crusaders.
The home team evened things up at seven in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ali Hartin drove in one when Hartin doubled.
Emmanuel scored four runs in the fifth inning.
Kinsley Goolsby, CHENEY, and LEXI JORDAN each had RBIs in the frame.
Hartin led the North Greenville to victory in the pitcher's circle. The righthander went three innings, allowing zero runs on three hits and walking one. Maddie Gore threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
MADISON EDWARDS took the loss for The Lions. EDWARDS surrendered five runs on three hits over three and a third innings, striking out two.
Karley Green started the game for the Crusaders. The righty surrendered three runs on six hits over three innings, striking out two and walking one
Emmanuel College racked up 14 hits. CHENEY, ELLEE VARNER, and Goolsby each had multiple hits for the Lions. VARNER and CHENEY each managed four hits to lead Emmanuel College. The Emmanuel Lions tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. CHENEY led the way with two.
