FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA - The Emmanuel women's volleyball team is set to host the 2023 Lion's Den Invitational this Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9. 

The tournament will consist of eight teams representing four conferences. Emmanuel, Francis Marion, Southern Wesleyan, and Erskine (Conference Carolinas), Lee and Shorter (Gulf South), Eckerd (Sunshine State), and Wingate (SAC). 

First serve will be at 10:30am on Friday and 10:00am on Saturday. All matches will be held at the Shaw Athletic Center with two taking place simultaneously on the volleyball and basketball courts. The volleyball court is designated court one, while the basketball court is designated court two. The full schedule can be found here. 

Emmanuel will take on Shorter University at 1:00pm on Friday on court 1, followed by Eckerd College at 6:00pm. The Lions will conclude their three team slate against Lee University on Saturday at 5:30pm (court 1).

The Lions head into the tournament after going 2-2 in Daytona Beach last weekend, recording a pair of strong wins against Drury and Augusta on Saturday. They will face Georgia College on Wednesday, September 6th on the road, hoping to secure another win and continue to build momentum as they head into their home slate. 

After going 12-0 at home in 2022, Emmanuel looks to continue their domination of their home court. It's been nearly two years since the Lions lost in the Shaw Athletic Center, with the 20 game home win streak dating back to early October 2021. In five seasons at Emmanuel, Head Coach James Friddle is an incredible 46-12 at home, a .793 win percentage!
