Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team hosted Southern Wesleyan tonight on Senior Night. Six seniors were honored for their dedication and contributions to the program –
Alaina Emminger,
Amore Marshall,
Emily Hanson,
Layla Bland,
Morgan Brice and
Jocelyn Martin. The excitement from Senior Day spilled over into the game, and the Lions took care of business in straight sets, defeating the Warriors, 25-11, 25-17, 25-9. With the win, the Lions improve to 17-9 on the season, 14-1 in conference play.
The Lions jumped out to a 7-1 lead out of the gate, using a 5-0 run to expand their lead to 19-7 on a kill by
Ellie Jackson. The first set was highlighted by 15 kills by the Lions and three service aces. The Lions would close out the set strong, scoring the final three points to take the set, 25-11.
The Lions took an early 4-1 lead in set two, expanding their lead to 11-5 on a kill by
Alaina Emminger. The Warriors would respond, forcing an attack error to cut the Lions lead to one point, 15-14. The Lions would answer back with a 5-0 run to make it, 24-16. A kill by
Brianna Bigelow would put an exclamation point on the set, giving the 25-17 win.
The Lions continued their momentum into set three. The Warriors took an early lead, 2-0 but the Lions would respond quickly and take the lead. A 10-0 run by the Lions would extend the Lions lead to 19-6. The set would be highlighted by 15 kills, 3 aces, and 2 blocks. The Lions would take the set, 25-9 and the game, 3-0.
Overall, the Lions had 46 kills on the night,43 assists, 9 aces, 52 digs and 7 blocks.
Ellie Jackson led the way with 11 kills, with
Alaina Emminger and
Jocelyn Martin adding 10 a piece.
Morgan Brice had 19 assists, while
Sami Gambill contributed 18.
Amore Marshall led the team with 4 aces, while
Morgan Brice had 3.
Cailin Pritchard had 2 blocks on the night while Jackson added 1.5.
