FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA- The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team hosted Erskine tonight in their final home game of the season. The Lions got off to a strong start with a 25-18 win in the first set. The Flying Fleet made the second set competitive, but the Lions held onto win it. 25-21 and followed that up with a 25-16 win in set three. With the sweep, the Lions improve to 21-9 on the season, 17-1 in conference play.
In set one, the Lions quickly jumped out to a 7-2 lead. Midway through the set, Emmanuel pushed their lead to 14-6 and continued on a 4-0 run, including an ace by
Amore Marshall to make it 18-6. Although the Flying Fleet would mount a comeback, the Lions would close out the set strong to take it, 25-18.Â
The second set saw the Lions jump out to a 6-1 lead, kills by
Alaina Emminger and
Ellie Jackson quickly made it 9-3. The Lions controlled the set until late, when the Flying Fleet answered back to tie things at 19-19. The Lions finished the set on a 6-2 run, including two kills and an ace by Jackson to win it, 25-21.Â
The Lions carried the momentum into the third set, taking an early 5-1 lead. Midway through the set, Erskine would respond to get within a point of the lead but the Lions would answer back with a 4-0 run to make it 18-12. Â Another 4-0 run would push the Lions lead up to 22-14 and the home team would close the set out strong to win it 25-16 and take the game 3-0.Â
Overall, the Lions had 37 kills, 37 assists, 13 aces, 36 digs, and 5 blocks.Â
Ellie Jackson led the way with 13 kills, with
Alaina Emminger adding. 8.
Amore Marshall had a strong night at the service line with 5 aces, while
Cailin Pritchard, Jackson, and
Sami Gambill all had two apiece.
Isabel Miller led the team with 13 assists, with Gambill adding 11.
Cailin Pritchard had two blocks on the night, with
Amore Marshall leading the team with 9 digs.Â
