LIons Down Bob Jones 94-69!

Franklin Springs, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team hosted Bob Jones University this afternoon in an exhibition game. The two teams kept things competitive in the first half, with the Lions leading 42-40 at the break. After the half, the Lions offense started clicking and Emmanuel would go onto defeat the Bruins, 94-69. With the win, the Lions improve to 1-3 on the season.

The first half was a competitive one with both teams making plays early. There were 8 ties and 8 lead changes in the first half of play alone. The Lions led early, getting up by as much as four points but the Bruins responded well to tie things at 10-10. Bob Jones took their first lead at 13-10, pushing their lead to as much as five points with 11:38 to play in the half. Late in the half, the Lions would score the final five points to take a 42-40 lead into the break. In the first half, the Lions shot 42% from the field and 4-18 from beyond the arc. 

After the half, the Lions got to work, quickly taking a five-point lead after back-to-back buckets by Tavarus Webb and Chris Dees. An 11-0 run by the Lions pushed their lead to 64-46 with 13:30 to play. In the second half, the Lions offense was on fire making 23-37 from the field (62%) and 5-15 from three-point range. In the half, the Lions outscored the Bruins 52-29 to take the win, 94-69. 

Four Lions ended the night with double digit scoring, with Tavarus Webb leading the way with 27 points, on 10-12 shooting. Kendall Latney (15), Elisee Ehuie (11), and Chris Dees (10) rounded out the Lions top scorers. Dees grabbed 9 rebounds for the Lions, with Webb collecting 8 on the afternoon. 

Next up, the Lions will travel to Aiken, SC to take on the Pacers of USC-Aiken on Wednesday at 7:30PM.
