Lions Fall to Nova Southeastern 115-98

Fort Lauderdale, FL – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Fort Lauderdale, FL to take on national powerhouse, Nova Southeastern. The Lions jumped out to an early lead, taking a 55-52 lead into half but the Sharks would settle into a groove into the second half and take control of the game to win it, 115-98. With the loss, the Lions fall to 7-6 on the season.
 
In the first half, Sharks would jump out to an early 8-0 lead, but the Lions would respond with 12 straight points by Chris Dees to give the Lions a 12-11 lead with 14:57 to play in the half. The Lions would go up by as much as 11 points in the half, 30-19 on a three by Elisee Ehuie.  The Lions were 20-31 (65%) from the field in the half, connecting in 12-18 from beyond the arc. Although the Lions controlled much of the first half, the Sharks cut Emmanuel's lead to three, trailing 55-52 at the break. 
 
In the second half, the Sharks quickly took over the lead and pushed it to 10 points, 69-59. The Lions answered back, bringing the game within nine points on a layup by Kendall Latney with 10:13 to play. Although the Lions were 15-30 from the field in the 2nd half, connecting on 5 threes, the Sharks were strong offensively, shooting 74% and going 6-8 from three. In the end, although the Lions had a strong performance, Nova Southeastern came away with a 115-98 victory to remain perfect on the season.
 
Five Lions ended the night in double figures with Chris Dees leading the way with 29 points on the night, going 8-12 from three and adding 4 assists. Kendall Latney contributed 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists while Tavarus Webb added 15 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. Jasper Gibson and Elisee Ehuie each had 12 points on the night. 
 
Next up, the Lions will head to Milledgeville, GA to face Georgia College & State University on December 31stat 3PM.
