Bristol, TN – The Emmanuel Men's Basketball team traveled to Bristol, TN to take on the King Tornado in conference action. The Lions took control of the game early and although the Tornado would get within 8 points of the lead late, the Lions would take home a 14-point win, 85-71. With the win, the Lions improve to 5-4 on the season and remain perfect at 4-0 in conference play.
The Lions jumped out to a 12-3 lead early, with several Lions getting into the scoring action. An 8-0 would push the Lions lead to 22-6 with 13:06 to play. The Lions shot 50% in the half, making 18-36 from the field and 7-19 from three-point range.
Chris Dees led the Lions with 13 points in the half, and
Tavarus Webb had 7 assists in the half. At the break, the Lions led 50-28.
After the break, the Tornado responded well with a run of their own to make it 58-40 with 14:17 to play. King would continue their comeback with a 13-0 scoring run that would thee score to 70-62 with 6:03 to play. The Lions would answer back with a run of their own, with key plays by
Kendall Latney and 10 points by
Tavarus Webb in the final five minutes of play.
The Lions would remain perfect in conference play, bringing home an 85-71 win.
Webb led all scorers with 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Chris Dees contributed 19 points and 4 steals, while
Kendall Latney added 16 points, 6 rebounds, and a blocked shot.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday at 1PM as they host Augusta University.
