FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA –The Emmanuel Baseball team hosted Mars Hill University this afternoon, looking to extend their winning streak to nine games. A six-run third inning gave Mars Hill the momentum, and the Mars Hill Lions took the win, 10-0. With the loss the Emmanuel Lions fell to 10-4 on the season.
There was nothing going for either team until the 3
rd inning when Mars hill scored six runs on six hits and an error, leaving one runner on base, giving Mars Hill a 6-0 lead.
Mars Hill added to their lead in the top of the fourth, scoring two runs on a hit and an error to take an 8-0 lead.
After several scoreless innings, Mars Hill finished with two runs in the 9
th on two hits and an error, to win the game 10-0.
At the plate, Mars Hill outhit the Lions 12-4.
Brock Wollin,
Thomas Collins, and
Cooper Tomkinson each hit a double for the Lions.
Colby Fields got the nod on the mound for Emmanuel. He pitched 2.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits.
Zakk Gibbons relieved him to face three batters. He gave up three runs on two hits.
Noah Olson faced five batters in less than an inning and gave up two runs on two hits.
Bubba Luke was next on the mound, pitching an inning and facing three batters.
Chase Lupton pitched one inning and struck out two batters.
Noah Cantleberry was next on the mound and pitched one inning, facing three batters.
Barrett Barkley relieved him, pitching 0.2 innings and giving up two hits.
Lucas Meehan faced one batter and struck him out.
Simon Boggie came in for the 8
th inning and struck out the side, followed by
Eli Roach who closed out the game for the Lions, pitching an inning and giving up two runs on two hits. He struck out one batter and walked two.
