FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Tennis team hosted Lander University today in regional action. The Bearcats got off to a strong start, wining the doubles point and took that momentum into the singles matches, winning the match 6-1.
DOUBLES MATCHES –
At the #1 Doubles spot, Emmanuel's
James Girdler and
Murilo Gracio fell to Matthew De Groot and Hugo Regner of Lander in a competitive match, 6-3.
At #2 Doubles, Lander's Ambroise Marchand and Markus Sorensen defeated Emmanuel's
Georg Stettler and
Aleksander Simovski, 6-1.
At #3 Doubles, Emmanuel's Julio Lopes Polesi and
Henrique Castro fell to Lander's Pieke Bouman and Ludvig Danielsson 6-3.
The Bearcats took the doubles point and the 1-0 lead heading onto singles play.
SINGLES MATCHES –
At #1 Singles,
Murilo Gracio of Emmanuel fell to Hugo Regner of Lander in a competitive three sets, falling in set one, 6-4, taking set 2, 7-6, and falling 1-0 in the tiebreaker.
At #2 Singles, Emmanuel's
James Girdler fell in three sets to Ambroise Marchand of Lander, taking the first set 6-2, then dropping the next two, 6-2, 7-5.
At #3 Singles,
Henrique Castro of Emmanuel defeated Lander's Mouad Naoui, 6-2, 6-4.
At the #4 singles spot,
Georg Stettler had a competitive match against Matthew De Groot of Lander, losing the first set, 7-5, winning the second, 6-0, and falling in the third, 6-2.
At the #5 Singles spot,
Aleksander Simovski of Emmanuel fell to Ishmail ElShafei of Lander, 6-0, 6-4.
At the #6 singles spot, Emmanuel's
Alejandro Gomez fell to Lander's Merlin Bellet, 6-3, 6-1.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 4-1 on the season. The Lions will be back in action at Augusta on Friday at noon.
