FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team hosted Edward Waters tonight in non-conference play. The match was a close one with multiple ties and lead changes, but the Lions prevailed to earn a 3-0 victory in straight sets, 25-23, 25-20, 25-21. With the win, the Lions improve to 5-8 on the season and extend their win streak to four games!
The first set was back-and-forth early, with each team having an answer. The Lions would trail midway through the set, 20-17, but the Lions would go on a 8-3 run to take the set, 25-23.
The Lions momentum continued into the second set, which was close like the first. The Lions led by as much as four points late in the set, 20-16, and would close out the set with three straight kills by Emmanuel to take it, 25-20. The Lions had 13 kills, a block and an ace in the set.
In the third set, Edward Waters led early, but the Lions responded to tie things up at 13 on an attack error by the Tigers. There were multiple ties and lead changes in the third set, but the Lions took the lead for good on a kill by
Harrison Coelho to make it 21-20 Lions. Emmanuel would close out the set with an ace by
Abdallah Roshdy, a kill by Ed Verian-Basson, and forced errors by Edward Waters to give the Lions a 25-21 win.
Overall, the Lions had 33 kills, 4 aces, 29 digs, and 6 blocks.
Eli Zdonek led the way with 8 kills 2 aces and a block on the night.
Abdallah Roshdy contributed 30 assists and 2 aces. Four Lions, Zdonek,
Arturo Diaz-Dube,
Ed-Verian Basson and
Lucas Nieves, had a block on the night.
Nicklas Eichenberger contributed 14 digs on the night.
