Lions Defeat Truett McConnell 19-2!

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team hosted Truett McConnell tonight, looking to stay undefeated on the season. The Lions got off to a quick start, scoring 8 goals in the first period, and they controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way, winning 19-2! With the win, the Lions improved to 5-0 on the season. 
 
In the first, the Lions got off to a fast start with a goal by Mikaela Austin with 14:19 to play, to give Emmanuel a 1-0 lead, Megan Williams got in the action next with a goal at 12:46, to put the Lions up 2-0. Paige Murphy added on to the Lions lead with 12:20 to play in the first, assisted by Lauren Kuschel to give the Lions a 3-0 lead. Meghan Jennings added the Lions 4th goal of the day at 11:41, assisted by Paige Murphy. Demi Czynski gave the Lions a 5-0 lead with 10:13 to play, assisted by Kristi Fisher. Williams got her second goal of the day with 8:25 to play in the first, assisted by Fisher to put the Lions up 6-0. Murphy would tack on another goal with 7:35 to play in the first, assisted by Kuschel to give the Lions a 7-0 lead. Kuschel would then score an unassisted goal with 4:53 to play in the first to make it 8-0 Lions heading into the second. 
 
In the second, the Lions kept the momentum going. Murphy scored her third with 13:47 to play, assisted by Fisher to make it 9-0 Lions. A mere seven seconds later, Murphy scored her fourth of the night, also assisted by Fisher to put the Lions up 10-0. Kuschel added onto the Lions lead with 8:43 to play, to make it 11-0.  Ashley Mercker made it 12-0 Lions, with 4:55 to play in the second on a goal assisted by Kuschel. Fisher would add onto Emmanuel's lead with 2:47 to play in the second, assisted by Murphy to make it 13-0 Lions. Murphy would score her fifth of the night with 1:51 to play in the second, assisted by Jennings to give Emmanuel a 14-0 lead.
 
Austin got things going for the Lions in the 3rd period, scoring with 11:49 to play to make it 15-0 Emmanuel. Murphy would tack on her 6th of the night with 8:39 on the clock, assisted by Austin to give Emmanuel the 16-0 advantage. Madison Pena got in on the action with 3:03 to play in the 3rd, assisted by Murphy to give the Lions a 17-0 lead. Jennings would make it 18-0 with 1:06 to play in the 3rd, assisted by Murphy. 
 
With 4:28 to play in the 4th, Truett McConnell would get on the board to make it 18-1. The Lions would respond in the way of a goal by Murphy, with 2:35 to play, assisted by Jennings to make it 19-1 Lions. TMU would score once more with 53 seconds left to make the final score 19-2 Emmanuel. 
 
Nine Lions got on the scorecard in tonight's game, with Paige Murphy leading the way with 7 goals. The Lions had 14 assists on the night! 
 
Next up, Emmanuel will host Mount Olive on Saturday at noon in Conference Carolinas action.
