Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team continued their weekend road trip to Mount Olive, NC to take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans. The Lions took the first set, 25-21, but the Trojans bounced back to take the next three, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23.
With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-10 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
The first set saw the Trojans lead early, taking a 10-7 lead, but the Lions would respond with a 5-2 run to tie things at 12-12. The two teams would go back and forth, with. Multiple ties and lead changes midway through the set. The Lions would take a 20-19 lead on an attack error by Mount Olive and would close the set out on a 6-2 run to take the set, 25-21.
In set two, things were close early. The Trojans led midway through, but the Lions took an 18-17 lead on a kill by
Eli Zdonek and would score the next three points to go up 20-17. The Trojans would use a 5-0 run to go up 21-20. The Trojans would take the set in a close one, 25-23.
The third set was all Mount Olive, with the Trojans jumping out to a 14-7 lead. They would control the pace of the set the rest of the way, getting up by as much as 10, 20-10. The Trojans took set three, 25-16.
In set four, the Lions had to fight back from an early Trojan lead. Mount Olive would get up 7-2, but Emmanuel would fight back to get within one an attack error, 13-12 Trojans. The Lions would keep it close the rest of the way, but the Trojans would take the set 25-23.
Overall, the Lions would have 48 kills, 44 assists, 6 aces, 28 digs, and 7 blocks.
Aidan Feeney led the way with 16 kills, with
Eli Zdonek adding 12.
Abdallah Roshdy contributed 39 assists on the day, with
Lucas Nieves having a big day at the service line with four aces. Nieves also led the Lions in digs with 8.
Greg Bodus contributed 2.5 blocks on the day with Zdonek, Roshdy, and
Arturo Diaz-Dube adding one a piece.
