GREENVILLE, TN – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team traveled to Greenville, TN tonight to take on Tusculum University in non-conference action. Each set went down the wire, but the Pioneers won in three sets, 26-24, 27-25, 25-22.
In the first set was back and forth, with the teams trading points. The Pioneers got up to a 24-19 lead late, but the Lions went on a 5-0 run to tie the score at 24 all. Two costly errors by the Lions however would give the Pioneers a 26-24 win in the first set.
The second set was similar to the first, with both team making plays early. The Lions went on a 3-0 run to take a 16-14 lead, but the Pioneers would respond to take a 18-16 lead. The set would go back and forth until the last minute, when Tusculum got two crucial kills and forced an error to take the set, 27-25.
In the third set, the two teams went on several mini runs to keep it interesting. The Pioneers went on a 4-0 run to take a 16-11 lead, but the Lions would respond with a 4-1 run of their own. The Pioneers would close out the set with two kills to take it, 25-22 and win the match, 3-0.
Overall, the Lions had 32 kills, 1 ace, 8 blocks, 28 assists and 25 digs.
Senior,
Eli Zdonek had 8 kills and 6 digs on the night.
Aidan Feeney contributed 7 kills, and
Lucas Nieves had 5.
Arturo Diaz-Dube had an ace and 3 blocks on the night with Nieves and
Greg Bodus adding 4 blocks a piece.
Noah Langelier led the Lions in assists with 14.
