Lions Fall in Four Sets to North Greenville

Box Score Tigerville, SC – The Emmanuel Men's Volleyball team traveled to Tigerville, SC to take on the Crusaders of North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action. The first set was a close one, with North Greenville edging the Lions 25-23. The Lions would respond well to take set two, 25-21, but the Crusaders would finish strong taking the next two sets, 25-21, 25-21. With the loss, the Lions fall to 5-13 on the season and 2-6 in conference.
 
Set one was close, with multiple ties and lead changes. The Lions led early, getting up by as much as 7-3 but the Crusaders answered back to tie the set at 12-12. The Crusaders would take the lead for good after forcing an attack error to take a 16-15 lead. Although the Lions would keep it close, the Crusaders would close out the set, 25-22. 
 
In the second set, the Lions responded well. The Lions had 14 kills in the set, compared to North Greenville's 10. The Lions had a service ace and the Crusaders had 5 service errors in the set. Although the Crusaders kept it close, the Lions took the set, 25-21. 
 
North Greenville would respond well in the third set, with a hitting percentage of .387. NGU had 15 kills in the set to the Lions 7. Emmanuel had two service aces to NGU's one, but the Lions had 8 service errors in the set. The Crusaders took the set 25-21. 
 
In the fourth set, the Lions had three blocks, but the Crusaders had 15 kills to Emmanuel's 10. The Lions had four service errors in the set and the Crusaders would go onto win it, 25-21. 
 
Overall, the Lions had 41 kills, 38 assists, 7 aces, 6 blocks and 42 digs. 
 
Eli Zdonek led the way with 14 kills for the Lions, with Aidan Feeney contributing 11. Abdallah Roshdy led the team with 35 assists. Zdonek led the team with 3 aces on the night with Arturo Diaz-Dube adding 2. Greg Bodus had 3 blocks on the night with Lucas Nieves, Diaz-Dube, and Zdonek adding 2 a piece. Nicklas Eichenberger had 14 digs on the night. 
 
Next up, the Lions will travel to Fort Valley, GA on March 7th to take on Fort Valley State University at 7PM.
