FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA- The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team was back in action today against Chowan University. It was Senior Day for the Lions and the added motivation showed, as the Lions controlled the pace of the game and beat Chowan, 18-6. With the win, the Lions improve to 6-2 on the season, 1-2 in conference play.
Kristie Fisher got the scoring started for the Lions, finding net with 11:00 to play in the first to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Meghan Jennings tacked on another goal for the home team with 9:34 to play in the first, making it 2-0 Lions. With 9:08 to play in the first,
Lauren Kuschel made it 3-0 Emmanuel.
Paige Murphy scored her first goal of the day with 8:51 to play in the first to give the Lions a 4-0 lead. Chowan got on the board with 7:56 to play in the first to make it 4-1, Lions. Emmanuel answered back with a goal by Fisher with 7:21 to play in the first, assisted by
Megan Williams to make it 5-1, Lions. With 4:34 to play to in the quarter,
Mikaela Austin found net, assisted by
Demi Czynski to make it 6-1, Lions. Williams would add to the Lions lead with 3:57 to play in the quarter, assisted by Fisher to make it 7-1 Lions. Jennings scored her second of the day with 2:35 to play in the quarter to give Emmanuel the 8-1 lead.
Paige Murphy started things off for Emmanuel in the second quarter, scoring a goal with 12:18 to play in the quarter, assisted by Kuschel to make it 9-1 Lions. Austin found net with 10:20 to play in the quarter to give the Lions a 10-1 lead. With 8:04 to play, Murphy added her third of the day to make it 11-1 Lions. With 5:00 to play in the quarter, Jennings scored her third of the day assisted by Murphy, to give the Lions a 12-1 lead. Chowan tacked on a goal with 1:32 to play in the 2
nd, to make it 12-2 Lions.
In the third, Fisher scored with 11:25 to play to make it 13-2, Emmanuel assisted by Murphy. Murphy found the net for her fourth time on the day with 9:44 to play to give the Lions a 14-2 lead. Kuschel added a goal for the Lions with 6:15 to play in the 3
rd assisted by Murphy to make it 15-2 Lions. Chowan closed out the quarter with a goal at 3:36 to make it 15-3.
In the fourth, Jennings scored her fourth of the day with 14:03 to play, assisted by Fisher to give the Lions a 16-3 lead. Jennings netted her fifth with 8:56 to play, assisted by Fisher to make it 17-3. Chowan would score the next two goals to cut the Lions lead to 17-5.
Megan Williams would close the scoring out for the Lions with a goal with 3:21 to play, assisted by
Ashley Mercker to make it 18-5, Lions. Chowan scored the final goal of the game to make the score 18-6.
