Central, SC- The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Central, SC to take on Southern Wesleyan in conference play. The Lions got off to a quick start scoring 8 goals in the first period and they continued to control the pace of the game the rest of the way. Emmanuel took home the win, 24-6. With the win, the Lions improve to 10-4 on the season and 3-3 in conference action.
Lauren Kuschel got the scoring started for the Lions with 12:31 to play in the first to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Paige Murphy found the net with 11:55 to play, to make it 2-0. Murphy tacked on another goal with 9:24 to play in the period to make it 3-0.
Kristie Fisher kept the momentum going in the Lions direction, assisted by Kuschel to give the Lions a 4-0 lead.
Meghan Jennings found the net next, at the 8:20 mark, to make it 5-0, Lions. Murphy scored her third of the afternoon with 7:48 to go in the 1
st, to make it 6-0. Kuschel grabbed her second goal with 5:02 to go in the period to help the Lions go up 7-0. Kuschel scored her third less than a minute later, to give the Lions an 8-0 lead. The Warriors scored two goals to end the first period with the Lions leading, 8-2.
In the second, Kuschel found net first with 12:31 to play, to give the Lions a 9-2 lead. Jennings was next to score with 10:24 to go, to make it 10-2. SWU got a goal back to make it 10-3, but the Lions responded quickly with a goal by
Ashley Mercker with 6:06 to play to give the Lions a 11-3 lead. Fisher made it 12-3 with 5:53 to play in the 2
nd, but SWU answered to make it 12-4. Fisher found the net again, assisted by
Mikaela Austin to close out the period with a goal to give the Lions a 13-4 lead.
In the third period, the Lions kept the momentum going with Mercker scoring quickly to make it 14-4, assisted by Jennings. Austin scored with 13:20 to play in the 3
rd, assisted by Kuschel to make it 15-4. SWU scored to bring the score to 15-5, but Austin answered with 10:26 on the clock, assisted by Fisher to go up 16-5. Murphy grabbed her fourth goal of the game with 6:11 to go in the 3
rd, assisted by
Demi Czynski to give the Lions a 17-5 lead. Czynski grabbed a goal of her own with 3:43 to go in the 3
rd, assisted by Fisher to make it 18-5 to end the period.
In the fourth, Jennings found the net first with 14:14 to play, assisted by Kuschel to make it 19-5, Lions. Austin scored again with 10:59 to go, to give Emmanuel the 20-5 lead, assisted by Fisher. Murphy scored with 8:27 to play, assisted by Jennings to give the Lions a 21-5 lead. SWU scored to make it 21-6, but the Lions answered with a goal by Czynski to give the Lions a 22-6 lead, assisted by Fisher, with 4:52 to play. Murphy tacked on another goal with 3:58 to play, assisted by Jennings to make it 23-6, and Mercker added on the final goal for the Lions with 1:25 to play, to give the Lions a 24-6 win.
Paige Murphy led the way with 6 goals, with
Lauren Kuschel adding 4 goals and 3 assists.
