Lions Down Lees McRae 24-2!

Banner Elk, NC – The Emmanuel Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Banner Elk, NC today to take on Lees-McRae in their final regular season matchup. The Lions got off to a quick start and controlled the pace of the game the rest of the way, bringing home a 24-2 win.. With the win, the Lions improve to 13-4 on the season and 6-3 in conference play.
 
Lauren Kuschel got the scoring started with a goal at the 14:06 mark, assisted by Kristie Fisher to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Thirty seconds later, Ashley Mercker scored, assisted by Paige Murphy to make it 2-0, Lions. Fisher got into the action with 13:03 to play in the first, assisted by Mikaela Austin to make the score 3-0, Lions. Austin found the net with 12:09 to play in the period to bring the score to 4-0. With 11:00 left, Demi Czynski grabbed a goal, assisted by Fisher, to make it 5-0 and scored again with 3:11 to play, assisted by Fisher to give the Lions a 6-0 lead. 
 
In the second, the Lions kept things going with a goal by Austin with 14:31 to go in the period, to make the score 7-0. Lees McRae scored to bring the score to 7-1, but Mercker answered back with 12:37 to play to give the Lions an 8-1 lead. Murphy found the net for the first time with 10:23 to play in the 2nd to make It 9-1, Emmanuel. With 9:15 to play, Meghan Jennings scored, assisted by Czynski to bring the score to 10-1. Murphy scored her second of the night with 8:37 to play, assisted by Austin to make it 11-1, Lions. With 4:31 to play in the 2nd, Ashely Mercker added onto the Lions lead with a goal assisted by Kuschel, to bring the score to 12-1. Megan Williams scored with 3:15 to go in the 2nd, assisted by Austin to make the score 13-1. Lees McRae got back on the board to make it 13-2 to close out the period.
 
Murphy started the third period with a goal in the 14th minute to make the score 14-2, Lions.  Jennings added onto the Lions lead with 13:29 to play, assisted by Czynski, giving the Lions a 15-2 lead. Murphy made it 16-2 with 11:14 to play in the 3rd, then Jennings scored the next two. Jennings found the net with 9:58 to play in the 3rd to make it 17-2, then again with 7:09 to go, assisted by Austin, to give the Lions an 18-2 lead. Murphy made it 19-2 with 4:42 to play in the 3rd period, and Jennings found the net with 1:40 to play in the 3rd to close out the period leading 20-2.
 
In the fourth, Celia Leonard grabbed her first goal of the day with 10:11 to play, to make it 21-2. Murphy added her sixth of the day with 8:27 to go, to bring the score to 22-2. Leonard scored again with 5:27 to go, to give the Lions a 23-2 lead, and Murphy closed out the game with a goal with 2:12 to play, assisted by Austin, to give the Lions a 24-2 win.
