BANNER ELK, NC – The Emmanuel Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Banner Elk, NC to take on Lees McRae today in the season finale. The Lions got off to a quick start, with 5 goals in the first period and kept control of the game the rest of the way to win, 18-5. With the win, the Lions improve to 1-15 on the season.
Luke Hildebrandt started things off for Emmanuel with a goal at the 10:15 mark, assisted by
Jared Weiss to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Tanner Park followed that up with a goal with 8:18 to play in the period, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 2-0, Lions. The Bobcats got a goal back to make it 2-1, but Park answered with a goal with 6:39 to play to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. Lees McRae scored to make it 3-2, but the Lions scored the final two goals of the period.
Ryland Laturell found the net with 3:07 to play in the period, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 4-2 and
Ryley Dowswell ended the period with a goal to bring the score to 5-2 after the first.
In the second, the Lions kept the momentum in their corner.
Ernest Hursey scored with 13:52 to play, assisted by Weiss to make the score 6-2, Lions. Laturell scored his second of the afternoon with 9:48 to play in the period, assisted by Dowswell to go up 7-2. Hildebrandt made it 8-2 with 8:09 to play with a goal assisted by Weiss.
Kyle Lloyd got in on the action with a goal with 6:38 to play in the period, assisted by Hildebrandt to make it 9-2, Lions. Weiss scored again with 4:33 to play to make the score 10-2, but the Bobcats scored to bring the score to 10-3. Hildebrandt closed out the period with a goal with 6 seconds to play, assisted by
Griffin Gibson-Thomas to make the score 11-3.
In the third, the Bobcats got things started scoring back-to-back goals to make the score 11-5.
Tanner Park responded with a goal with 9:18 to play, assisted by Weiss to give the Lions a 12-5 lead. Weiss scored again with 3:02 to play in the 3
rd, assisted by Laturell to make it 13-5. Park found the net with 1:17 to play to make it 14-5 to end the period.
John Allen got things started for the Lions with a goal at the 10:03 mark, assisted by Weiss to make the score 15-5. Hildebrandt added on to the Lions lead with a goal at the 7:02 mark, assisted by Gibson-Thomas to make it 16-5. Lloyd kept things going for Emmanuel with a goal with 5:01 to play, assisted by Allen to give the Lions a 17-5 lead. Hildebrandt finished the game off with a goal with 1:20 to go to give the Lions an 18-5 win.
Luke Hildebrandt led the Lions with 5 goals and 4 assists, while
Tanner Park had 4 goals.
Jared Weiss led the Lions with 5 assists on the afternoon.
