In partnership with Sport X Change, the Emmanuel Volleyball team will be traveling to Colombia, July 31-August 6 to serve the community, spread Jesus' love, and play some volleyball!
Sport X Change was founded by the parents of
David Gordon (Emmanuel Beach Volleyball coach) in 1960. The organization has taken teams from colleges, universities, clubs, etc. to over 70 countries in the world to serve and learn about different cultures.
While in Colombia, the Lions will serve in the local church and community to meet the needs God calls them to. The team will host clinics to teach volleyball to local children and young adults. They will also compete against teams in Colombia to enjoy the sport and grow as a team. During their clinics and competition, the Lions will set aside time to spread the gospel and share of Jesus' love through personal testimonies.
James Friddle, the Director of Volleyball believes the trip will be an eye-opening experience for the team.
"We have players from all different backgrounds, but to travel to a new culture is a huge advancement in their development," he said. "To be able to play volleyball at a high level in another country is very special."
What's the goal for the trip?
"The goal for the trip is to open our eyes to the love that God has for each and every one of his children," said Friddle. "We also want to have a chance to have fun with volleyball and get to know new people within the world of volleyball and learn from them. Ultimately, we're there to share the gospel and engage with new people in new opportunities to share our faith through sports."
The team is currently raising funds for the trip. Click the link below to support today!
