Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, GA – The Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team traveled to Young Harris College today to face the Mountain Lions in conference action. The Lions got off to a fast start, taking the first set, 25-16 and kept the momentum throughout the game to take the final two sets, 25-22, 25-20. With the win, the Lions improve to 4-4 on the season.
Emmanuel took a 5-1 lead early in the first set. An 8-0 run for the Lions would extend their lead to 12-2. The Mountain Lions would get within 5 points of the lead, 19-14 but Emmanuel would close out the set strong to win it, 25-16.
The second set saw several ties and lead changes, but the Lions would settle into a groove late in the match. A kill by
Layla Bland and one by
Cailin Pritchard helping Emmanuel close out the set, 25-22.
In the third set, the two teams traded the lead early. The Lions would take the lead for good on a kill by
Emily Hanson to give Emmanuel a 7-6 lead. A 3-0 run would extend the Lion's lead to 9-6. Emmanuel would lead by as much as 7 points in the set, but the Mountain Lions would close the set out strong to get within 4 points of the lead. Emmanuel would take the set, 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Overall, the Lions had 45 kills, 40 assists, 8 aces, 4 blocks and 48 digs.
Ellie Jackson led the way with 12 kills and 3 aces on the afternoon.
Morgan Brice led the team with 19 assists and
Cailin Pritchard had 2 blocks in the win.
Amore Marshall had 12 digs to lead the team.
