HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLORIDA - The Emmanuel men's golf team began their 2024-25 season on September 16 and 17 at the 2024 Griffin Invitational hosted by Saint Leo. Palm Beach Atlantic took home the team title, finishing at 13 over par with a 54 hole total of 865. The Lions came in seventh place with a 34 over par score of 886.
The tournament was held at Mission Inn Resort and played on the Las Colinas course. Las Colinas is a demanding layout that is over 7,100 yards on the scorecard and has a rating of 75.4. Thick rough and small greens resulted in difficult scoring conditions despite benign weather conditions.Â
Palm Beach Atlantic finished first, with host and 12th ranked Saint Leo following in second place with an 869 (+17). Eckerd and 15th ranked Coker were third with an 870 (+18). Embry-Riddle was 5th with an 880 (+28). 25th ranked Lynn narrowly clipped the Lions for 6th place with an 882 (+30), while Emmanuel followed in 7th with an 886 (+34). The Lions finished ahead of conference opponent Mount Olive (8th, 888), and Tampa (9th, 891), who received votes in the national poll. Wilmington (DE), Virginia Union, and New College of Florida rounded out the 12 team field.
Jack Garcia led the way for the Lions individually, with a total score of 220 (73-73-74) to finish T20. Lukas Lautrup-Nissen shot Emmanuel's low round of the tournament on Tuesday, firing a 69 (-2).Â
