Box Score SAN ANGELO, TX – In their final game of the 2024 Kathleen Brasfield Invitational, the Emmanuel Women's Volleyball team squared off against tournament host, Angelo State. Although the Lions made it competitive, the Rams came away with a win in three sets, 25-13, 25-22,
With the loss, the Lions fall to 2-2 on the season.
In the first set, the Rams got off to a quick start taking a 5-0 lead. Angelo State would extend their lead to 20-8 and would take the set 25-13 recording 11 kills and 4 aces in the first.
The second set was competitive with nine ties and five lead changes. The Lions took an early 10-5 lead but the Rams responded to tie things at 18-18. The teams would trade points until Angelo State took a 23-22 lead and scored the final two points of the set to take it 25-22.
The third set was similar to the second, with the teams trading points early. Angelo State would take a 14-13 lead on a service error by the Lions and would lead the rest of the way to take the set, 25-19 and the match, 3-0.
Overall, the Lions had 25 kills, 2 aces, 6 blocks, and 42 digs.
Ellie Jackson and
Isabella Reyes led the way for the Lions with 7 kills apiece.
Cailin Pritchard had 4 blocks on the night, with Jackson contributing 3.
Sami Gambill led the Lions in assists, with 17 and
Asia Queen contributed 17 digs.
Up next, the Lions will head to Huntsville, AL for the UAH Invitational. Emmanuel will play two games on Friday, September 13 - Ferris State University at 11AM and Harding University at 3PM.
